Ambato, Ecuador is situated about 3 hours bus ride south of Quito, the capital. It’s a beautiful city high up in the splendour of the Andes mountains. We are supporting the work of La Ciudad Feliz - “The Happy City”, envisioned by Bishop Ramiro Vega and his wife Jenny. Their dream was to build a safe place for the young, the poor and the elderly. All those most vulnerable and at risk in their community. Ramiro and Jenny now live in the Happy City with an extended family of over 20 street children - Happy City is now a reality! |

Set against all the difficulties of their country, including rampant inflation and volcanic eruptions - The Happy City has already become an oasis of peace and safety. We will be assisting in building work and children’s work. We need skilled and unskilled labour for this strategic, life changing project. SoapBox will work on the second floor of a playroom for children and hopefully install the windows and doors. Possible Leisure Activities: “The Centre of the World”. Salasaca Otavalo Indian Market.
