Nepal
Nepal is the world’s only Hindu kingdom. Of the country’s 20 million people an overwhelming 89% are Hindu. Buddhism and Islam claim another 10.5% and the remaining 0.5% are Christians. Idol worship and the caste system are major features of everyday life. Women are considered second class citizens and witch doctors are held in high esteem.

A series of uprisings brought about a degree of democracy in 1990 and with it a measure of religious freedom. Even though Christian witness has been limited in the past, there are now about 150,000 Nepali Christians and the numbers are growing fast.

Pastor Min Raj’s excellent work is affecting the lives of hundreds of people who once had no hope. This is Christianity in action. Prepare to be touched by the love of these people, and challenged by their commitment to God.

The Soapbox Team is returning after the problems in 2006 and will be working in Kathmandu with our good friends, Christian Care and Gospel Outreach Ministries. Pastor Min Raj Dulal is developing an exciting work amongst the orphans, malnourished and underprivileged people of the city. We are going to help with a variety of practical maintenance jobs to support his expanding work in the school and orphanage.
