South Africa (TLC)
We are planning three trips to South Africa in 2008 when we will be working once again with “The Love of Christ” ministries.

TLC was established in 1993 by Thea & Robin Jarvis in order to rescue abandoned babies. Every week 100’s of babies are left to die on the streets by mothers forced to give them up in order to survive themselves.

Many of the babies suffer from HIV/AIDS. TLC is dedicated to salvaging the lives of some of these babies through adoption into a community of families whose one aim is to raise and nurture the poorest of the poor into valuable educated and skilled members of society. The “Farm” where the children live is a 23 acre smallholding offering lots of space and fresh air.

UPDATE:
The following info has come in from TLC regarding this year's team activities.

"The teams will be helping to lay a path. Due to the success of the last teams path laying activities TLC would like to extend this path to as far as the newly built laundry. This will be to ease the movement of laundry to and from the Nursery and main house.

In the 5 years since they arrived Thea and her family, with help from their supporters, have renovated the farm to include new nurseries, a playroom and purpose built bathroom for the babies and much needed volunteers cottages. The whole place is filled with the sound of energetic children and laughter.

More info is available on the TLC website: http://www.tlc.org.za/

TLC1 is now Full for 2008. There is still some space on the other TLC projects. See below.

Apply for one of these projects now..

The team is required to bring along some building gloves, old clothes and sun screen. Please also remind the teams that it can get very cold here while they are out here. Too often they underestimate the cold.

They will obviously also be working and playing with the babies and children in the usual way.
