Here is the latest bulletin from Pastor David Kereto:
Dear MEA PrayerPartners,
Please receive our sincere gratitude for your help and for standing with us in prayer during this difficult time in our nation. Immediately after election
results were announced, violence, looting, burning, destruction and killing erupted in Kenya. Even before the elections, there were several reports of
heightened witchcraft. Dark forces were awakened and marshaled against this country as politicians battled for Kenya’s soul. Floodgates were opened,
pouring out the spirit of hate, destruction and bloodshed. In the ensuing crisis, the church reached out with mercy to the hurting. But
that initial response did not address the dark side of Kenya’s battle, and many Pastors now feel that the time has come to engage in spiritual warfare that
will close the floodgates of hell. We want to reclaim the nation of Kenya for Christ.
As a nation we have been engaged in activities which will help the different communities of our country to heal, forgive and experience peace as we
continue to coexist together as one nation. We have been having national prayer times and holding meetings on unity, justice, reconciliation, peace, forgiveness and love.
Due to the big losses people of Kenya experienced, the majority are still hurting psychologically, so the church has also started focusing on
counseling. We also have the issue of reuniting families. As people fled during the violence, family members ran to different places. As a result many family members got separated, and some families are still looking for their loved ones.
On the issue of recovery and reconstruction, it will take some time before we can be able to resettle back the people who were directly affected by the
violence. When I visited a Pastor friend ( Peter ) from Nakuru to find out how he is doing, I was shocked to find that all he had was reduced to ashes. All
his properties in Nakuru town were burned down. Though he lost everything, his passion to share the gospel has not died. I am currently assisting him to
stand up again. He told me that our nation of Kenya desperately needs to hear the gospel for proper healing to take place.
Although the country came to a stand still in various ways, we have been able to continue sharing the gospel where we had relative peace or where violence did not hit directly.
PRAYER REQUESTS
1) Repentance - Individual people in our nation need to repent of prejudice, pride, hate, arrogance, and tribalism etc.
2) Intercession – Pray that the church will be unified and restored to its former state and that it will experience revival (Joel 2:28; Psalms 85:4-7). Our prayer is for the nation of Kenya to experience peace, justice, reconciliation, reconstruction and economic revival (Isaiah 61:4). We also pray that God will give us righteous leaders (Psalms 8:15; Proverbs 29:2).
3) Spiritual Warfare - We need to pray against tribalism, occultism, violence, lawlessness, bloodshed and death. (2 Corinthians 10:4-6; Ephesians 6:12). As you pray , exalt God over Kenya (Psalms 46; Isaiah 33:5).
May the Lord continue to equip the churches in Kenya in order for them to assist in counseling. Giving assistance, showing concern and loving people has healed many hearts. Even as the peace accord has been signed, my prayer is for Kenya not to settle just for resolution, but for reconciliation, healing and restoration of relationships. We also need to continue to pray for forgiveness, humanitarian help and resettlement of the displaced people who are now living in camps.
Thank you and may God bless you in all you are doing to assist the people of Kenya.
Yours In His Service
