SoapBox African Quest 6-month Mission Training and Christian Discipleship Course
 

Having started in January 2010 for 6-months. Jan-Jul, we are now taking applications for the 2011 season

Under SoapBox this will not simply be a young person's gap year programme but a programme designed also for those taking a career break or who have even retired.

Age range is 18-70.

African Quest has been operating for 10 years under the guidance of John and Grace Miles, latterly within the organisation, International Teams. John and Grace are planning to retire and were encouraged by former AQ participants to look around for an organisation that might take the programme on and guide it into the 21st Century. SoapBox was approached in the early summer of 2008 by these same people who by 'coincidence' had also led SoapBox Short Term teams in previous years. They felt that SoapBox shared the values that AQ held and that we would be the ideal organisation to grow AQ in the future.

We were introduced to John and Grace and many meetings followed as we got to know each other. After a while it became clear to everyone that God had a plan and that SoapBox was indeed the right organisation to take on the project.

When Does African Quest Start?

The 2010 team are currently on site and we are taking applications for the programme that commences in January 2011.

We undertook research among those who were considering taking time out and the consensus was that in this day and age most people look for a 6-month period to raise funding and then a 6-month programme before embarking on the next stage of their life, whether it be further education or embarking on a career.
